A backup is a copy of your files and databases that allows you to restore your website in case of failures, mistakes, or data loss.
At Bacan, your peace of mind matters to us, which is why we create two weekly backup copies of your service:
- One copy on local servers.
- Another copy on remote servers.
This way, your data remains protected no matter what happens. We know that more than 90% of our clients do not create their own backups, so we help cover that gap.
Still, if you prefer to keep direct control, creating your own copy is easy. Just follow these steps:
Step 1: Back up your files with FTP
- Connect to your account using an FTP client such as FileZilla.
- Open the root directory of your site, usually
/orpublic_html. - Download all files to a safe folder on your computer.
Step 2: Back up your databases
- Access your control panel, for example DirectAdmin.
- Open the phpMyAdmin section.
- Select the database you want to back up.
- Click the Export tab and save the
.sqlfile on your computer.
Done. You now have a complete copy of your website, including files and databases, stored on your own device.
Recommendation: Create backups regularly and store them somewhere safe, such as an external drive or a cloud storage service.
